Editorial policy

Listings

  • Facts come from the vendor's public pages, and listings show the date they were last checked. Pricing is re-read about once a month. When a vendor doesn't publish something, we leave it empty instead of guessing.
  • Listings are drafted with AI from those pages. Makers' submissions and their edits to live listings are checked by an editor before they appear.
  • Listings and reviews are based on public information, not hands-on testing.
  • Makers can correct their listing after claiming it, which is free.

Rankings

  • Most popular uses a score made of the tool's recognition (rated with AI), how complete its profile is, and visitor activity: upvotes, saves, clicks, views and user ratings.
  • Trending uses the last 7 days of upvotes, clicks and views, plus a bonus for tools launched in the last two weeks and a share of the overall score.
  • Top rated sorts by the average of approved user reviews.
  • A plan or placement is not part of any of these scores. A Pro card is highlighted and labelled but keeps its position. A fuller profile scores higher, and every plan can fill in the same details: description, features, pricing, screenshots, demo video and social links.
  • Paid placements appear apart from the sorted results and are labelled.
  • Best-of lists and reviews are written without regard to whether a maker pays us, except for sponsored reviews, which are labelled.
  • Paid slots are labelled: Featured or Ad, Sponsored, Promoted alternative or Category sponsor.
  • Pro plans take no Featured slot. They get a labelled launch in Just launched on the homepage and pinned above the New list for their first 7 days, taking hourly turns when more are running than there are spots, a highlighted card with a Pro label in lists, and a Promoted alternative slot and a labelled pin in relevant searches, which show after Featured buyers. When more tools qualify than there are spots, they take turns. On a lifetime plan those two spots run for the first 12 months.
  • Pro listings and live Featured placements link directly with rel="sponsored". Other listings, including the Listing plan, link through a /go/ redirect marked nofollow. We don't sell followed links. A listing gets a followed link only when our badge is on the maker's site, and that doesn't depend on paying us.
  • Pro listing pages don't show Promoted alternatives from other tools. Their lists of similar tools stay.
  • We only promote tools that passed editorial review. We can decline any placement.
  • Slot counts are fixed: 8 Featured slots on the homepage, 4 per category, one Homepage Spotlight and one sponsor per category.
  • Sponsoring a category, a best-of list or a data report doesn't change the order of the tools or the data on that page.
  • A sponsored review, bought separately or included in Pro, is labelled Sponsored on the listing. The maker doesn't see or approve it before it's published, limitations stay in, and the verdict is ours.
  • A newsletter feature is the exception: we agree the text with the maker before it goes out.

We sometimes accept payment to mention a company in an existing article when the topic fits. The mention is labelled Sponsored and its link carries rel="sponsored".

Some outbound links, in articles and on listing pages, are affiliate links, and that can include tools on the Listing plan, never tools on Pro. They go through /go/ redirects marked nofollow. Commissions don't change what we recommend.

User reviews

Reviews come from signed-in users with a confirmed email, one per tool, and appear after moderation for spam and conflicts of interest. Makers can't review their own tools. We approve or reject reviews; we don't rewrite them. On a Pro plan a maker can post a public reply under a review after an editor checks it, but can't change or remove the review.
