How to choose photo editing tools
This category has only two tools so far, and they differ more in purpose than in price. These are the things to compare:
- Scope of the app. Fotor is an online photo editor that also has AI image, video and design tools for creators. DaVinci Resolve combines editing, color grading, VFX and audio post-production, so its focus is wider than still photos. Pick the one that fits the work you do most often.
- Platform. Fotor runs on the web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, so you can edit in a browser or on your phone. DaVinci Resolve is desktop software for macOS, Windows and Linux. It's the only one of the two that lists Linux.
- Pricing model. Both are freemium. You can start for free and pay only if you need more.
- API access. Both list an API. That matters if you want to automate edits or connect them to your own workflow.
We haven't tested either tool, so try the free tier on your own photos before you commit.
