What is Firecrawl?
Firecrawl is a web data API that searches, scrapes, crawls and interacts with websites, then returns the content as clean Markdown or structured JSON for AI agents and LLM applications. It runs as a managed service, so you don't need to run a local browser, Playwright or Puppeteer.
The API has several endpoints. Search returns full page content for live queries. Scrape turns HTML or JavaScript pages into Markdown or JSON. Crawl traverses whole sites, and Map discovers a site's URLs. Parse extracts text from PDF and DOCX files. Interact automates a browser for dynamic, multi-step pages. Monitor watches pages for changes and sends alerts by webhook, email or Slack. All endpoints draw from a shared pool of credits.
Firecrawl suits developers building RAG pipelines, agents and data workflows. It has SDKs for Python, Node.js, Go and Rust, plus a CLI and an MCP server. The code is open source and can be self-hosted.
