What is Microsoft Translator?
Microsoft Translator translates text, speech, conversations, websites and documents. It is part of Azure AI Services and comes in versions for personal, business and education use.
People can use the apps on Android, iOS and Windows for real-time conversation translation, multi-device conversations, and offline translation of menus and street signs. Translator also runs inside Bing and Outlook, and Outlook has an add-in. In classrooms, it adds live captions so students can follow lessons across languages.
Businesses can access the Translator API and the Speech service through Azure. The API handles standard text translation and document translation, including text in images, and it lets you train and host custom translation models. The free tier covers 2 million characters a month. Above that, billing is pay-as-you-go per million characters, or you can choose a volume tier for custom translation.
