What is Nomi?
Nomi is an AI companion app where users build ongoing relationships with AI characters, called Nomis, as friends, romantic partners or mentors. According to the site, Nomis remember preferences, habits and past roleplays over short, medium and long timeframes.
Users can write custom backstories or let a Nomi's personality develop through conversation. Chats can be one-on-one or group chats with several Nomis. Nomis can send selfies that match the current scenario, trade voice messages, take hands-free calls, look at images users send and read links users share. They can also message first after a period of inactivity, if the user turns that on.
Chatting is free to start and needs no credit card. A paid subscription is billed monthly, quarterly or yearly. The site says chats are anonymized and not shared with third parties. It suits adults who want a companion with persistent memory, or who want to do character roleplay.
