What is Windsurf?
Windsurf, now renamed Devin Desktop, is an AI code editor from Cognition. It also works as a command center for managing coding agents. The IDE from Windsurf is still there, and on top of it you get Spaces, a Kanban board and multi-agent management. Through the Agent Client Protocol (ACP), you can run your preferred agents and frontier models side by side in one place.
Sessions can run on your own machine or in Devin Cloud and move between the two without losing context. For long tasks, Devin can coordinate subagents that each open their own pull requests. Other built-in tools include Fast Context for codebase search, Devin Review for checking diffs, Fusion (a frontier lead model paired with a cheaper sidekick model) and Supercomplete tab predictions.
It is aimed at individual developers and engineering teams up to enterprise scale. A free plan is available, and paid plans start at $20 per month.
