What is Tabby?
Tabby is an open-source AI coding assistant that you can self-host. It gives code completion, an in-IDE answer engine and inline chat. TabbyML positions it as a self-contained alternative to GitHub Copilot.
You can run Tabby on your own infrastructure, including consumer-grade GPUs, and it doesn't need an external DBMS or cloud service. Context providers pull in documentation, configuration files and other data sources so suggestions fit your project. It has plugins for VS Code, Neovim, Eclipse, Android Studio and JetBrains IDEs such as IntelliJ, PyCharm and WebStorm. Tabby Cloud also offers Pochi, an agent that plans and carries out tasks, billed by LLM token usage.
Tabby suits individuals and small teams that want a free local setup, and organizations that need private code assistance with SSO, usage analytics and telemetry policy controls.
