What is Mistral?
Mistral builds frontier and specialist open-weight AI models, along with the software to use them. Its Vibe assistant handles chat, web search, document uploads, image generation, spreadsheets, slides and agentic coding. You can use it on the web, on iOS and Android, from a terminal CLI, or through VS Code and JetBrains plugins.
For organizations, Forge customizes models on your own data, and Studio is where you build, govern and monitor agents and applications. Models can run on-prem, in your own VPC, or on Mistral's cloud with in-region inference and dedicated GPU capacity. The API is priced per million tokens, with discounts for batch jobs and cached input.
Individuals can start on the free plan. Developers can use the CLI and the API. Mistral also sells to enterprises and public bodies that need control over their data and deployment. It lists energy, manufacturing, banking and government customers.
