What is DaVinci Resolve?
DaVinci Resolve is a post-production application from Blackmagic Design that combines video editing, color correction, visual effects, motion graphics, audio post and, as of version 21, photo editing. The work is split across dedicated pages: Media, Photo, Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color, Fairlight and Deliver.
The free version handles 8-bit projects up to 60fps and Ultra HD resolution, and it includes collaboration and HDR grading. DaVinci Resolve Studio, a one-time purchase, adds 10-bit output up to 120fps, resolutions beyond 4K, and the DaVinci AI Neural Engine. The Neural Engine covers facial recognition, smart reframing, speed warp, super scale, Magic Mask, AI noise reduction, IntelliSearch and AI voice isolation.
It suits film and video editors, colorists, VFX artists and audio post engineers on Mac, Windows or Linux. Teams can share projects through Blackmagic Cloud, and Blackmagic also sells editor keyboards, color panels and Fairlight consoles for the software.
